Watch 18 minutes of Ghost of Tsushima gameplay, combat, and fox petting

Ahead of Ghost of Tsushima’s July 17 release date, Sony unveiled an 18-minute State of Play broadcast dedicated entirely to the game.

Sony and developer Sucker Punch Productions gave viewers “an extended look at new gameplay footage, including exploration, combat and more.” There was no news on the PlayStation 5 is expected — “just a big, beautiful look at Sucker Punch’s PS4 open-world epic.”

During the episode, developers from Sucker Punch showed off gameplay and new details from the game. Some of the highlights include new exploration details, like a “Guiding Wind” to help navigate, and what looks like the ability to collect resources without getting off your horse. Notably, Ghost of Tsushima also has foxes, which will guide you to “hidden shrines across the island.” (You can pet the fox.)

Combat was a big focus, too — with a bevy of details explained, like smoke bombs and parrying. Sucker Punch also detailed its new photo and video mode, which looks pretty expansive, giving players the ability to create elaborate samurai movies.

The broadcast was streamed on YouTube and Twitch, but you can watch it right here, too. (Embedded above.)

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was first revealed at Paris Games Week in 2017. It was originally slated for a May 29 release date, but the game was delayed in late April alongsideThe Last of Us Part 2.
