2. Verify ARK files

Corrupted game files bring troubles in the game processing. They can cause issues when launching ARK but also during the actual gameplay. Luckily, both Steam and Epic Games offer an easy way to verify ARK game files.

For Steam users:

  1. Launch Steam and navigate to the Library.

  1. Use the Windows shortcut, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
  2. Navigate to the Services tab.
  3. Check Hide all Microsoft services and then hit the Disable All button.

5. Run ARK in compatibility mode

  1. Go into the File Explorer folder navigator by pressing the Windows logo + E keys simultaneously.
  2. Open the installation folder for the game you need to run in compatibility mode.
  3. Right-click on the .exe application file for Ark to select Properties.
  4. Select Compatibility on the window’s tab bar.
  5. Click Run this program in compatibility mode to activate the drop-down menu.
  6. Then choose a suitable Windows platform for the game on the drop-down menu. Select Windows 7 as a first trial
  7. Select the Apply and OK options on the game’s properties window to set your chosen compatibility mode.

If Windows 7 compatibility mode doesn’t help you fix the ARK Survival Evolved crash problem, try using the other versions.

6. Use different launch options

  1. Open Steam Library and right click on Ark: Survival Evolved
  2. Select Properties, and look for the button Set Launch Options
